2026年10月11日（日）本学本校（みずき野キャンパス）にて、新潟県内の高校生を対象とした「第12回新潟県高校生英語スピーチコンテスト」の開催が決定しました！今回は、英語力に自信のある方向けの「アドバンス部門」と、英語スピーチに気軽に挑戦できる「チャレンジ部門」の2部門を設けました。自分に合った部門を選んでエントリーできます。豪華景品も準備中です！高校生の皆さん、たくさんのご応募をお待ちしております。
当日はご家族やご友人、一般の方も見学できますので、ぜひご参加ください。（申込不要）

Announcement: The 12th Niigata Prefecture High School English Speech Contest
We are delighted to announce that the 12th Niigata Prefecture High School English Speech Contest will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the Mizukino Campus of Niigata University of International and Information Studies.
This year’s contest will feature two divisions: the Advanced Division, designed for students who are confident in their English abilities, and the Novice Division, intended for those who would like to experience the excitement of an English speech contest in a more relaxed and supportive environment. Participants are welcome to choose the division that best matches their interests and level of experience.
Prizes will be awarded to outstanding participants, and exciting gifts are being prepared. We warmly encourage high school students from across Niigata Prefecture to apply.
Family members, friends, and members of the general public are also welcome to attend and observe the contest. No advance registration is required for spectators.
We look forward to welcoming you to this exciting event!

■Topic:
Why Learn English in the Age of AI?
■Time Limit: About 3 minutes
Timing will begin with the participant’s first spoken word.
■Judging Criteria:
Participants will be evaluated comprehensively based on:
- Content and organization of the speech
- Responses during the Q&A session
- English proficiency and appropriateness of language use
- Verbal and non-verbal communication skills, including eye contact, facial expressions, and gestures
■Eligibility:
Eligible participants include students enrolled in:
- High schools in Niigata Prefecture
- Secondary education schools (upper secondary division)
- Special needs schools (upper secondary division)
- Years 1–3 of colleges of technology (kōsen)
Students who have attended schools where English has been the primary medium of instruction for more than six years are not eligible to participate.
■Application Procedure:
1. Choose a Division
・Advanced Division: Recommended for students with English proficiency equivalent to EIKEN Grade Pre-1 or above.
・Novice Division: Open to all other students.
2. Complete the Online Application Form

3. Submit Your English Speech Manuscript
Instructions for manuscript submission will be provided in the confirmation email sent after your application has been received.
There is no prescribed format. Manuscripts may be handwritten or prepared on a computer.
■Application Deadline:
Monday, September 7, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
Both the online application form and the English speech manuscript must be submitted by the deadline.
■Awards:
Advanced Division
- Grand Prize (1 winner): ¥30,000
- Excellence Prize (2 winners): ¥10,000
Novice Division
- Grand Prize (1 winner): ¥10,000
- Special Prize (3 winners): ¥5,000
Both Divisions
- Encouragement Prize: A ¥1,000 QUO Card for all participants who do not receive one of the above awards

■内容（テーマ）：
「AI時代における英語学習の必要性について」（英語によるオリジナル未発表原稿に限る。）
■制限時間：
3分程度（時計は生徒の第1声から開始します。）
■審査：
発表時の内容、言語、非言語的表現（視線・表情・ジェスチャー等）および質疑応答の受け答えを総合評価して審査します。
■応募資格
新潟県内の高等学校、中等教育学校（後期課程）、特別支援学校（高等部）及び高等専門学校（1～3年生）に在籍する生徒とします。
ただし、英語を教授言語とする学校に6年以上在籍した方は参加できません。

目安：アドバンス部門（ADVANCED LEVEL）は英検準1級相当以上レベル、チャレンジ部門（NOVICE LEVEL）はそれ以外
