いよいよ出発の日が来た。日本からカナダまで移動する今日は時差が発生するため、今まででもっとも長い一日が始まる。これといって特に早起きはせ ず、家を出る１時間前くらいに起きた。忘れ物がないかが一番心配だったが、特に重要な忘れ物はなかった。三条駅から新幹線に乗る星野くんと倉品くんを除い た６人と引率する永井先生、後半から引率予定で見送りに来た河原先生の８人が新潟駅に集まった。とりあえず何事もなく新幹線で東京駅に着いた。そこから電 車で約１時間掛けて成田空港に到着した。まず荷物を預けるなど、色々な手続きをしてから、日本円をアメリカドルとカナダドルに両替した。両替は非常に簡単 であり、置いてある紙に両替する金額を書き込み、窓口に書き込んだ金額分の日本円を持っていくと、そのまま外貨と交換してくれる。その後、空港で軽い昼食 をとった。これが日本での最後の食事だった。ちなみに僕の場合は日本食ではないサンドイッチでした。そして、いざ飛行機に乗ってみるとスチュワーデスは 太った外国人のおばさんでがっかりだった。機内での食事は３回あり、最後の食事では「Noodle or eggs?」とスチュワーデスに聞かれたが後半のeggsしか聞き取れなくて、もう一度聞き返したら「メニューは見たのか？」みたいなことを英語でベラベ ラ言われめんどくさいのでeggsにした。飛行機の中はとても暇だった。隣の倉品くんは終始熟睡しており、数時間後には外国人の速い口調の英語に苦戦して いることは知るよしもなかった。僕は一睡も出来ず音楽を聴いたりしながらボケっとしていた。午後３時から飛行機に乗り、１０時間掛けてミネアポリスに到着 したが、そこはまだその日の午後１時頃だった。初めて国外の大地を踏みしめ、入国審査に向かった。入国審査は最悪だった。全然言っている事がわからず、適 当に「Yes!」と言っておいた。ミネアポリス空港でも３時間程度の待ち時間があり、ファーストフードでピザを食べた。これが初めての外国での買い物だっ た。ここで食べたピザはちょうど一人分の大きさで丸くなっていて、約４ドルくらいだった。味はかなり良かった。アメリカに行ってみて驚いたことは、非常に 太った人が多かった。その後は出発まで時間を潰し、２時間掛けてエドモントンに向かった。到着すると、また入国審査が待っていた。今回の入国審査も残念な 結果であり、僕たちは慌てまくっていたが、永井先生はそんな僕らには目もくれず数十メートル先ですでに荷物を受け取っていた。荷物を受け取りドアを開ける と数人の外国人が話し掛けてきてビックリしたが、それはこれからお世話になるライアンとミミとセバスチャンだった。その後寮に行き、いくつかの説明を聞い たあと、移動で疲れ果てた僕たちは眠りについた。
The day of a start came at last. Since time difference occurs today when it moves from Japan to Canada, one longest day starts until now. At least 1 hour before coming out of a house, I got up, without occurring early. Leaving a thing is most apprehensions, but I didn’t leave a thing.Six persons except Mr. Hoshino and Mr. Kurashina who rides on the Shinkansen from the Sanjo station, and Mr. Nagai and Mr. kawahara gathered in the Niigata station.We arrived at the Tokyo station with the Shinkansen.We arrived in Narita Airport over about 1 hour by train from there.We did various procedure. After we exchanged the Japanese yen for the U.S. dollar and the Canadian dollar. Exchange is very easy.The amount of money exchanged for paper is written in. And the written in Japanese yen for the amount of money is brought to a window. If it does so, it will exchange for foreign currency.Then, light lunch was taken at the airport.This was the last meal in Japan.Incidentally my meals were the sandwiches which are not Japanese meals. And when the airplane was taken, I was sorry for a stewardess to be the fat foreigner's lady.There are three meals in the inside of a plane. It was asked to me "Noodle or eggs?" by the stewardess at the time of the last meal. However, I could catch only eggs of the second half, and when I threw back a question once again, I was told "Whether to have seen the menu" by the stewardess. Since I was trouble, I chose "eggs."It was very free the inside of an airplane. Next Mr. Kurashina was sleeping soundly from beginning to end, and, several hours after, having a close game into English of a foreigner's quick tone did not have the means to know, either.Since I was not able to do a wink of sleep, either, I was listening to music.Although the airplane was taken from 3:00 p.m. and it arrived in Minneapolis over 10 hours, but it was still there around 1:00 p.m. of the day.I stood on my foreign ground squarely for the first time, and went to immigration examination.Immigration examination was the worst.I did not find the completely said contents but called it "Yes" suitably.There is waiting time of about 3 hours and pizza was eaten on the fast food also at the Minneapolis airport.This was shopping in the first foreign country.The pizza eaten here was round in the size for just one person, and the price of it was about 4 dollars. It was quite tasty. That I was surprised to go to the United States had many people who grew fat very much. Then, we killed time to the start and went to Edmonton over 2 hours. When it arrived, immigration examination was waiting.This immigration examination of mine is also the worst and I am confused earnestly, but Mr. Nagai ignored me and he is dozens of m beyond and had already received the load. Several foreigners were addressed and surprised, when we received the load and opened the door. They were Lyon, Mimi, and Sebastian. After going to the dormitory after that and listening to some explanation, I who got tired out with movement was attached to sleep.
初日なのでまず日本と外国では言葉が違うということを発見した。あと日本語の通じない外国では堂々とあまり人前でいえないような会話ができるということを知った。
あえてまとめるなら楽しみにしていた飛行機はあまり楽しくない。もう一度これに乗らなきゃ日本に帰れないのだと思うと…。
今後カナダ研修に参加する人はインスタント味噌汁、シャンプー（カンダのシャンプーを使うと髪が痛む。）、単語数の多い電子辞書（僕の持っていった ものには知っているような単語しかない。）、お茶を持っていくといいと思う。カナダの飲み物は炭酸飲料がメインなので炭酸嫌いな人には地獄です。
